Hearing on Scientific Integrity and Transparency

On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the House Subcommittee on Research held a congressional hearing on “Scientific Integrity and Transparency.” The purpose of the hearing was to gather information on open access to federally funded scientific research data and to gather feedback on the newly published Office of Science and Technology Policy guidelines on data access.

 

Data Conservancy’s Principal Investigator, Sayeed Choudhury, was asked to testify at this hearing. He was joined by three other witnesses: Dr. Bruce Alberts, Editor-in-Chief of Science Magazine and Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Biophysics at University of California-San Francisco; Dr. Victoria Stodden, Assistant Professor of Statistics at Columbia University; and Dr. Stanley Young, the Assistant Director of Bioinformatics at the National Institutes of Statistical Sciences.
