The Data Conservancy will be well represented in San Francisco next week, Dec. 3-7, for the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting. The AGU Fall Meeting brings together around 20,000 scientists, professionals, and educators who work on geophysics related topics. The Earth and Space Science Informatics branch of the AGU meeting focuses on data and information issues that are relevant to the geosciences. This year’s AGU meeting features a large number of Earth and Space Science Informatics sessions. As you can see from the list below, there will be many sessions relevant to the Data Conservancy community (and this only claims to be a partial list).
Data Conservancy work will be represented in three presentations and a poster, all of which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 4. As noted in the list below, Ruth Duerr will present a talk titled “The Data Conservancy: Early experiences with cross-disciplinary data management” and Karen Wickett will present “Representing Identity and Equivalence for Scientific Data.” Duerr will also present a poster titled “Data Conservancy Lineage Service: A Key Component for Data Preservation.”
In addition, Matt Mayernik will be presenting in a workshop being put on by the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP). The workshop “Data Management 101 – Building your reputation through good data management” will be held on Tuesday, December 4 from 12:20 – 1:40pm, at the Marriott Marquis, Salons 5-6.The full AGU program can be found at http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/scientific-program/.
If you are attending the meeting, stop by at either of those sessions to hear more about recent Data Conservancy activities.
